Wisdom on Day One of Diwali: Dhanteras

DEVELOP ABUNDANCE CONSCIOUSNESS

All of the Hindu festivals serve as a reminder of the principles of Sanatana Dharma, and these principles can be applied at any time in your life.

You do not have to wait for a festival - just adapt the attitude and approach, and then apply it to your every day life and BINGO - it is yours!

For sure you will want to acquire the principles of Diwali because it teaches you how to attract abundance into your daily life.

The first two days of the five day Diwali festival prepare the devotee to invite Mahalakshmi, The Goddess of Wealth, into the home and heart, which happens on Day Three of Diwali, called Deepawali, the Festival of Lights.

The first day of Diwali is focused on developing the Consciousness of Abundance. What is the main ingredient required to be in abundance?

Gratitude!

THE DAY OF FORTUNE: DIWALI DAY ONE

Day one of Diwali is the "Day of Fortune" called Dhana Trayodashi (Dhanteras). This is celebrated in the month of Ashwina, on Krishna Paksha, Trayodashi Tithi.

It is on this day that Goddess Lakshmi and Dhanvantari (Originator of Ayurveda, Lord of Health) manifest from the churning of the ocean.

It is Dhanvantari who was carrying the kalash of amrita (elixir).

On this day, we clean and refresh the house thoroughly and then perform puja to either Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) or Lord Kubera (Lord of Wealth).

It is auspicious to purchase gold, silver, and new utensils on this day. Bring it into the house and offer it to Mahalakshmi and Dhanvantari, for today is a day to celebrate your fortune and to be in gratitude for Her abundance in your life.

Spiritual Bhavana (Feeling) Day One Diwali:

“Oh Mother, I am so grateful for the wealth you have blessed me with and as a token of my appreciation I stand before you today with an offering of gold/silver/utensils (or whatever you would like to offer).

Today I am renewing my commitment to spend the wealth you blessed me with wisely - supporting my family, building the spiritual community, helping the greater good of humanity.

Mother, please bless me with generosity and take away any feelings of greed."

GRATITUDE CREATES ABUNDANCE

So why did the sages who developed the Diwali festival start out by focusing on the feeling of gratitude?

The feeling of gratitude for the things we already have in our lives will attract back even more good fortune. This fortune and wealth is Goddess Lakshmi herself.

When you have a feeling of gratitude and appreciation, you see your circumstances the way Divinity sees it. You notice the good, the miracle, and the divine in your every day life and present life circumstances.

In gratitude, there is no room for judgment, so the old thoughts dissipate and everything blossoms as an opportunity and with the feeling of grace.

Everything becomes a blessing when we have the attitude of gratitude!

The attitude of gratitude opens the heart and brings the possibility of attracting the abundance of Lakshmi's eight forms of wealth.

SAGE'S INTUITION PROVEN BY MODERN SCIENCE

The ancient sages who developed the ways to worship and the beautiful festivals knew intuitively the power of projection and the role it has in creating our life experience.

For what you put "out there" through your thoughts, you attract back through your experience.

Modern science, through the study of quantum physics, neuroscience, and epigenetics is now proving the wisdom of the ancient sages scientifically.

Thoughts (mind) put out an electric vibration and you attract an experience back to yourself based on the intensity of your emotion (feeling, magnetic field). This is how you create your world.

By understanding the laws of manifestation, we see it is our choice what we attract back to ourselves in life. By applying awareness to our thoughts and emotions, we can more consciously manifest what we really want in life.

Today, become aware of what your life circumstances are, what you are manifesting, and if it is in alignment with what you really want.

If you desire to change your life situation, take the next step and identify the aspects of your life that you are grateful for. Being grateful is the first step in manifesting a life of abundance.

Then, identify the thoughts and beliefs you should change to give yourself an upgrade. What do you want for your life?

Think it - Feel it - BE IT!

Remember, you do not need to wait for Day One of Diwali to adapt this attitude into your life. Start now!

Live each day in gratitude and watch your life change!

Jai Maa!
