2018 marks the first Diwali celebrated at the Lalita Chandika Temple.
It was a delightful evening, full of new promises for the New Year. Ardent devotees showed up to celebrate the occassion and to participate in a beautiful puja by Swami Pranavananda.
In Bengal, the tradition is to worship Kali prior to Diwali. Kali Maa takes away our darkness and gets us prepared to share our light on Diwali.
Swami Pranavananda conducted the Kali Puja and offered a large cucumber as our ego, then dropped the knife to sever the ego.
